LLWS U.S. Championship Hits 12-Year High; Title Game Also Strong


An unusually strong Little League World Series ended with strong numbers on ABC over the weekend.

The Illinois/Nevada LLWS U.S. Championship Game earned a 3.4 final rating and 5.2 million viewers on ABC Saturday afternoon, up 62% in ratings and 65% in viewership from California/Connecticut last year (2.1, 3.1M) and the highest rated and most-watched U.S. title game since 2002.

The game drew a record 16.8 rating in Las Vegas and a 13.4 in Chicago.

Final numbers for Sunday’s South Korea/Illinois LLWS Championship Game were not immediately available. The game had a 3.5 overnight rating, up 35% from Japan/California last year (2.6) and the second-highest overnight of this year’s tournament. Only Saturday’s game did better in the metered markets (3.6).

Chicago generated a record 15.0 rating for Sunday’s game.
