Little League Earns Another Big Audience on ESPN

For the second straight night, ESPN earned one of its largest audiences ever for Little League coverage.

Thursday’s Illinois/Pennsylvania Little League World Series game drew 3.8 million viewers on ESPN, the network’s second-largest audience ever for a Little League game. Only Nevada/Pennsylvania the previous night did better (5.0M).

Prior to this year, the record for Little League on ESPN was 3.3 million for a 2001 game involving California and New York.

Like the previous night’s game, Illinois/Pennsylvania earned a larger audience than any Major League Baseball telecast on ESPN or FOX this year. In addition, the game nearly doubled competing NFL preseason coverage on NFL Network (2.0M).

In Philadelphia, the game had an 8.9 rating — trailing only Wednesday’s game (14.9) as the highest ever for Little League in the market. The game drew a 7.6 in Chicago, a local record.
