If Dick Vitale is the first thing you think of when I say “college hoops” …

If you knew Mitch Albom before he started spending his Tuesdays with Morrie…

If Chris Berman’s latest exploits are as interesting to you as T.O.’s …

We have a spot just for you.

SportsMediaWatch, a new online destination for sports fans and media professionals, is seeking energetic, culturally-savvy writers to provide content with its finger on the pulse of the sports media universe.

Aspiring writer? Impassioned critic? Snarky couch potato? SportsMediaWatch wants your observations, your thoughts, your insights into the sports mediascape. SMW seeks to provide daily “media notes” summarizing and observing a wide range of national sports columnists and talking heads. In addition to these daily digests, SMW will augment its daily content with regular columns from its pool of irreverent-yet-knowledgeable talent – and this could be you!

  • Has the ESPN/EA Sports acquisition fundamentally changed your life?
  • Ever watch Fox Sports and feel suddenly very, very alone?
  • Wonder whether Bob Costas just walks around humming that Olympic theme music?

These questions are why SMW gets up in the morning. If they resonate with you, read on, and join our team. Propose a column. Propose a theme. Propose a focus that means something to you; it can be as seemingly weighty or mundane as you like. Maybe you’re fascinated with the politics of power and corporate merger that make the wheels go, or maybe you just want to count the number of times Stuart Scott says “boo-yah” in any given night. We’re open to suggestion, and we want to hear from you.

Proposals should be limited to two or three paragraphs; please take the opportunity to demonstrate your interest in the field and to show off your writing talent and style. Additional writing samples or credentials should be available upon request, but don’t crowd our inbox without being asked.
