Bob Davie is off ABC Saturday Night Football broadcasts, just the first of several changes to the ESPN/ABC college football line-up. Davie will continue to work on Saturday nights, shifting from ABC to ESPN2, where he will team with Mark Jones on the network’s new Saturday night broadcast team.
Kirk Herbstreit will work every Saturday Night Football broadcast, in a two-man booth with Brent Musburger. Last year, Herbstreit occasionally had to miss broadcasts due to proximity issues between the Saturday night game and the locale of College Gameday. To lessen his workload, Herbstreit will no longer work on Thursday night games with Chris Fowler. ABC studio analysts Doug Flutie and Craig James will replace Herbstreit on those games.
More:
- Ron Franklin will move from ESPN2 Saturday night games to regional afternoon games on ABC; Franklin will continue to be teamed with Ed Cunningham.
- The team of Sean McDonough and Chris Spielman will shift from Saturday afternoon games to Friday night games. Replacing McDonough and Spielman on Saturday afternoons is the team of Dave Pasch and Andre Ware.
- Larry Coker and Mike Gottfried will work several games on ESPNU, though not in the same booth.
Despite the myriad of changes, several teams will remain in tact — including the ESPN Saturday night team of Mike Patrick and Todd Blackledge.
