The Clippers’ 2019 acquisition of Kawhi Leonard was supposed to change the dynamic in Los Angeles. Instead, it was the coup de grace cementing the team’s secondary status. In seven years, the Leonard era saw only one NBA title brought to Los Angeles — by the Lakers. All the Clippers have to show for it are years of playoff disappointment and an investigation into salary cap circumvention that has cost the franchise five first round draft picks. If not for the Donald Sterling era, the Clippers’ present-day situation would constitute rock bottom.
Nevertheless, the Clippers are scheduled for 11 national TV windows this season across ESPN (twice), NBCUniversal (five times, including four 11 PM ET late windows on the NBC broadcast network), Prime Video (once) and NBA TV (three times). That is of course a sharp decline from this time last year (28).
