Another major figure in the NBA family has passed away.
Three-time NBA All-Star and Comcast SportsNet analyst Norm Van Lier was found dead in his home on Thursday at the age of 61. Firefighters were called to his home for a well-being check after Van Lier, who worked as a studio analyst for Bulls telecasts on CSN, did not show up to his pre-and-postgame duties for Wednesday’s Bulls game.
When firefighters arrived at Van Lier’s home, they found him unresponsive.
Fellow CSN analyst and former NBA player Kendall Gill said of the news, “I’m in shock… I’m going to miss him terribly.” CSN Chicago President James J. Corno said in a statement, “Our entire network is deeply saddened by the sudden loss of our dear friend Norm Van Lier. Norm was … one of the most popular on-air personalities to ever grace our airwaves.”
The death of Van Lier comes just days after Utah Jazz owner Larry Miller died due to complications from diabetes.
