CBS dominated Saturday night thanks to the ongoing NCAA Tournament.
Coverage of the Elite Eight matchup between Villanova and Pittsburgh averaged 10.5 million viewers from 8-9:30 PM Saturday night, making that portion of the game the most viewed prime time program of the night.
Prime time viewership peaked during the 9:00 PM half-hour, when the game averaged 12.4 million viewers.
The game also averaged a 3.5/11 rating among adults 18-49, easily the highest rated program of the night in that key demographic.
For the night, CBS averaged 8.6 million viewers and a 2.7/9 among adults 18-49, helping the network win the night in prime time. CBS finished ahead of second-place FOX by 56% and 50% in the respective categories.
Elsewhere Saturday night, NBC stumbled to a fourth-place finish for the World Figure Skating Championships, which averaged 3.6 million viewers and a mere 0.6/2 among adults 18-49 from 9-11 PM. During the half-hour when basketball and figure skating went head-to-head (9:00 PM), basketball outdrew figure skating by 314% in total viewers.
