- With the NBA schedule set to be released in the near future, New Orleans.com reports that the New Orleans Hornets will play the Orlando Magic on Christmas Day. While the website says the game will likely air on TNT, it seems more likely it would air on ESPN, as the network usually combines with sibling ABC on double and tripleheaders on the holiday.
- The 2009 IRL schedule was released Wednesday, with the series running eighteen races. The season, which starts on April 6 at St. Petersburg, will not end until October 11 at the Homestead/Miami Speedway — a month later than in previous years. Some notable changes: the Indy Japan 300 will take place in September, as the second-to-last race of the season, after previously taking place in April. Additionally, two former Champ Car events in Long Beach and Toronto have been added to the IRL schedule.
- NBC has sold 96% of its ad inventory for the upcoming Beijing Olympics, including $50 million in sales during the past ten days, “on pace to set records from past Olympics.” At least $5 million of NBC’s ad revenue will come from presumptive Democratic nominee Barack Obama, who has bought time during prime time coverage of the Olympics on the NBC family of networks. Overall, NBC has “set a revenue target north of $1 billion for the 2008 Games. “
