Second round coverage of The Masters earned a 3.0 U.S. rating and 4.2 million viewers on ESPN Friday afternoon, up 11% in ratings and 4% in viewership from last year (2.7, 4.1M), and up 20% and 19%, respectively, from 2011 (2.5, 3.5M).
The telecast ranks as the most-viewed for the second round of The Masters since ESPN began televising the event in 2008.
Overall, Friday’s coverage ranks as the fourth-most viewed golf telecast ever on ESPN, trailing only the first round of the 2010 Masters (4.9M), the 2008 Tiger Woods/Rocco Mediate U.S. Open playoff (4.8M), and the final round of last year’s British Open (4.2M).
Coverage of the 2013 Masters averaged 3.5 million viewers on ESPN, up 4% from last year (3.4M), and up 17% from 2011 (3.0M). The 3.5 million viewers ranks as the second-highest average for The Masters on ESPN, trailing only 2010 (4.4M).
