The Bruins’ first round series has been a big draw in Boston, but quite as big as last year. In other news, IndyCar racing hit a season-low on NBC Sports Network last week, and ESPN hit a season-high for Major League Baseball.
Bruins Hot on NESN, But Cannot Match Last Year
- The first four games of the Bruins/Maple Leafs first round Stanley Cup playoff series averaged a 10.0 rating on NESN in the Boston market, including a 10.8 for Game 4 on Wednesday night. By comparison, the network’s four Bruins/Capitals telecasts last year — which included Game 7 — averaged a 13.6. (This year’s avg. from Boston Globe)
Season-Low For IndyCar in Brazil
- Last Sunday’s IndyCar Series Sao Paulo Indy 300 drew a 0.2 U.S. rating and 224,000 viewers on NBC Sports Network, the least-viewed IndyCar telecast of the season (four telecasts). The previous low was 253,000 viewers for the Birmingham race on April 7. (Weekend numbers from Son of the Bronx)
ESPN Hits Season-High For Dodgers/Giants
- ESPN drew a 1.5 U.S. rating and 2.3 million viewers for the Dodgers/Giants “Sunday Night Baseball” game last weekend, edging Rangers/Astros on Opening Night (just under 2.3M) as the network’s top MLB telecast of the season. Including games on FOX, Dodgers/Giants ranks as the third-most viewed MLB telecast of the season. (Weekend numbers from Son of the Bronx)
