ESPN Makes Silver Hire Official
- New York Times writer Nate Silver has officially joined ESPN as an on-air contributor and editor-and-chief of FiveThirtyEight.com, the network announced Monday. As part of the agreement, Silver has sold the Five Thirty Eight brand to ESPN — though it is expected to maintain editorial independence in a manner reminiscent of Bill Simmons‘ Grantland site. As editor-and-chief, Silver will “build a team of journalists, editors, analysts and contributors” for the revamped site. (ESPN Media Zone, Media Bistro)
