Boosted by an NFL lead-in and a stirring comeback, Game 2 of the ALCS put up impressive numbers.
Game 2 of the Tigers/Red Sox American League Championship Series earned a 5.2 final rating and 8.3 million viewers on FOX, up 44% in ratings and 48% in viewership from Cardinals/Giants Game 2 on a Monday night last year (3.6, 5.6M), and up 24% and 26%, respectively, from Tigers/Rangers Game 2 on a Monday afternoon in 2011 (4.2, 6.6M).
Sunday’s game ranks as the most-viewed League Championship Series game on any network since Rangers/Tigers Game 4 in 2011 (8.4M), and the most-viewed Game 2 of an LCS since Giants/Phillies in 2010 (8.8M).
Among adults 18-49, Game 2 earned a 2.4 rating — up 50% from last year (1.6).
The Tigers/Red Sox ALCS has averaged a 4.7 rating through two games, up 21% from last year’s 3.9 for Cardinals/Giants, and tied with Giants/Phillies in 2010 as the highest for any LCS since Angels/Yankees in 2009 (5.6). The series has averaged 7.5 million viewers.
