The only team in the history of the National Football League to go 0-16 in a season will get at least one nationally televised game during the 2009 campaign.
Despite rumors to the contrary, the Detroit Lions will maintain their slot on the NFL’s Thanksgiving Day schedule, playing the Green Bay Packers at 12:30 PM ET on FOX. With the exception of a five-year period from 1939-44, the Lions have played a home game on Thanksgiving Day every year since 1934.
The Packers/Lions matchup is the nineteenth between the two teams on Thanksgiving Day.
Packers/Lions is one of three Thanksgiving Day games. The Cowboys will host the Raiders on CBS at 4:15 PM ET, and in the nightcap, the Giants will play the Broncos on NFL Network.
