The NFL Pro Bowl hit a four-year low in overnight ratings Sunday night.
The 2014 NFL Pro Bowl earned a 6.7 overnight rating on NBC Sunday night, down 13% from last year (7.7), down 15% from 2012 (7.9), and the lowest overnight for the event since 2009 (5.8) — when the event still aired in the afternoon.
The 6.7 overnight is the third-lowest since the current television contract began in the 2006-07 season, ahead of only 2009 and 2007. In addition, the 6.7 is tied as the second-lowest overnight of the season for NBC’s “Sunday Night Football” — ahead of only a Vikings/49ers preseason game in August (5.8).
The Pro Bowl drew a lower overnight than last summer’s MLB All-Star Game (8.1 to 6.7), but indications were late Monday that the NFL still finished ahead in the final ratings.
Contributing to Sunday’s four-year low was competition from the “Grammy Awards” on CBS.
