A pair of big name teams generated solid numbers for NBC’s Sunday Night Football.
The Week 4 Saints/Cowboys Sunday Night Football game drew a 13.3 final rating and 22.7 million viewers on NBC, up 6% in ratings and 11% in viewership from Patriots/Falcons last year (12.5, 20.5M) but down 6% and flat, respectively, compared to Giants/Eagles in 2012 (14.1, 22.8M).
The 11% increase in viewership is the largest of the season on NBC, and marks the network’s first double-digit change in either direction. NBC has now had increases for three of five NFL telecasts this season, helping to bring the network’s season-to-date average to 23.0 million — up 2% from 22.6 million last year.
As NBC noted in a Tuesday press release, viewership has increased despite the fact that every SNF game this season has had a double-digit scoring margin entering the fourth quarter.
Among adults 18-49, Sunday’s game drew a 8.7 rating — up 15% from last year (7.6) but down 3% from 2012 (9.0).
