- Artie Lange: The comedian is no longer allowed to appear on HBO Sports after his controversial apperance on the premiere episode of Joe Buck Live. While on a panel with two other comedians, Lange made several profanity laced, off-color comments about Buck, as well as Cowboys QB Tony Romo. HBO Sports president Ross Greenburg characterized Lange’s appearance as a “mean-spirited, vitriolic diatribe with guttural language.”
- Don Ohlmeyer: One of the bigger names in broadcasting could be the next ESPN ombudsman. Deadspin reports that Ohlmeyer, a television veteran who was once the executive producer of Monday Night Football on ABC, “is rumored to be the lead candidate” for the vacant ombudsman position. In a statement, ESPN told Deadspin, “We will announce our new ombudsman when the process is finalized.”
- Mike Yam: The ESPNews anchor was honored on Monday for his work raising awareness about Alzheimer’s disease. Yam, whose grandfather suffers from the disease, recently helped the Alzheimer’s Association organize the Collective Consciousness Gala, which raised $50,000.
