Barely topping a season-high set just days earlier, FSU’s close shave against Louisville did well on ESPN.
Thursday’s Florida State/Louisville college football game drew a 3.1 final rating and 5.0 million viewers on ESPN, up 121% in ratings and 141% in viewership from Georgia Tech/Clemson last year (1.4, 2.1M), up 139% and 167%, respectively, from Virginia Tech/Miami in 2012 (1.3, 1.9M).
FSU’s comeback win ranks as the most-watched college football telecast of the season on ESPN, edging the previous high set five days earlier by Mississippi/LSU (4.97M to 4.95M). The 3.1 rating tied an ESPN season-high, matching Tennessee/Georgia in September.
Excluding the postseason, FSU/Louisville ranks as the second-most watched weeknight college football game on any network since 2011, trailing only Oregon/Stanford last November (3.6, 5.7M).
Head-to-head, the was topped Thursday Night Football on NFL Network (6.9M) but finished ahead the Knicks/Cavaliers NBA game on TNT (4.0M).
