- A contract dispute may soon leave DirecTV subscribers without Versus. DirecTV’s contract with Versus expires August 31, and the satellite provider says the net “is asking for terms which do not reflect the market and which they are not asking of all other distributors.” In a statement to Fanhouse.com, Versus says that “[w]e continue to talk and are hopeful that we will reach an agreement.” (via Puck the Media)
- The Atlanta Journal-Constitution and Cleveland Plain-Dealer are just two of the 49 daily newspapers set to join a “new national sports content-sharing alliance,” set to launch in September. Cleveland Plain-Dealer sports editor Roy Hewitt explains the arrangement: “It will have a Web site base where newspapers put their budgets, file stories and they will be made available to others … You can put anything from it you want into [your] paper, you can edit as you would any other stories.” (via Fang’s Bites)
- The Cowboys’ new stadium will take center stage on FOX Friday night. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones will take FOX NFL host Curt Menefee on a tour of the new Cowboys’ stadium during Friday night’s Titans/Cowboys tilt on FOX. Friday’s game will be the first Cowboys game played at the stadium.
Netflix officially announces expanded NFL deal
The NFL has officially reached a new deal with Netflix that will see the streamer bookend the season.
