Ratings hit a multi-year low for the PGA Tour at New Orleans.
Final round coverage of the PGA Tour New Orleans Classic earned a 1.6 final rating and 2.4 million viewers on CBS Sunday afternoon, down 6% in ratings and 4% in viewership from last year (1.7, 2.5M), and the lowest rated final round of the event since 2010 (1.3).
In addition to the five-year low, Sunday’s rating and viewership ranks as the second-lowest of the season for a final round telecast. Coverage from Texas drew a 1.4 and 2.0 million in March.
The weak performance marks a reversal of fortune for the PGA Tour, which entering New Orleans had increases in ratings and viewership for five of the previous six final round telecasts — including a record rating at Tampa Bay, a nine-year high at the Heritage, and a ten-year high the Houston Open.
Third round action last Saturday drew a 0.9 final rating and 1.3 million viewers, down a tick in ratings and 4% in viewership from last year (1.0, 1.4M). Excluding rainouts, it was the least-watched PGA Tour telecast of the season on broadcast (23 telecasts).
