Led by the Dodgers’ walk-off win against the Cardinals, Thursday’s slate of MLB postseason action was up double-digits from last year.
Cardinals/Dodgers Game 2, the second game of a playoff tripleheader on TBS, drew a 4.1 overnight rating on Thursday evening — up 28% from a 3.2 for Brewers/Phillies Game 2 in the same timeslot last year, but down 18% from Twins/Yankees Game 1 in that timeslot on Wednesday.
The game drew an 18.3 rating in St. Louis (down from a 20.0 for Game 1) and a 6.5 in Los Angeles (down from a 9.6 for Game 1).
Meanwhile, Game 1 of the Red Sox/Angels ALDS drew a 3.7 overnight, up 12% from a 3.3 for Dodgers/Cubs Game 2 in the same timeslot last year, but down 3% from a 3.8 for Cardinals/Dodgers Game 1 in that window on Wednesday.
The Red Sox’ loss drew 13.2 in Boston and an 8.0 in Los Angeles.
The first game of the day, Game 2 between the Rockies and Phillies, drew a 2.5 overnight — up 14% from both Game 1 of the series on Wednesday afternoon and White Sox/Rays Game 1 last year.
The Rockies’ win drew a 9.2 rating in Denver (up from a 5.9 for Game 1), and a 15.2 in Philadelphia (down from a 15.9 for Game 1).
Overall, TBS averaged a 3.5 overnight rating for Thursday’s MLB postseason tripleheader, up 21% from a 2.9 last year.
