The ALCS hit a series-high on Thursday night.
Game 5 of the Yankees/Angels series drew a 7.6/13 final rating and 11.9 million viewers on FOX, up 62% and 64%, respectively, from a 4.7/8 and 7.2 million for Rays/Red Sox Game 5 on TBS last year.
Compared to past LCS on FOX, the Angels’ victory was up 49% in ratings and 48% in viewership from Phillies/Dodgers Game 5 last year (5.1, 8.0 mil), but down 11% and 10%, respectively, from Red Sox/Indians Game 5 in ’07 (8.5, 13.1 mil).
Thursday’s game ranks as the highest rated, most-viewed non-NFL sporting event since the MLB All-Star Game in July (8.9, 14.6 mil).
Through 5 games, the Yankees/Angels ALCS is averaging a 6.0 rating and 9.4 million viewers on FOX, up 54% in ratings and 57% in viewership from a 3.9 and 6 million through five games of Rays/Red Sox on TBS last year. Compared to last year’s five-game NLCS on FOX, Yankees/Angels is up 25% and 27%, respectively, from a 4.8 and 7.4 million for Phillies/Dodgers.
Despite the increased numbers, Yankees/Angels is still off 10% in ratings and 8% in viewership from Red Sox/Indians in ’07 (6.7, 10.4 million through five games). The ’04 Red Sox/Yankees ALCS — the last to feature the Yankees — averaged a 9.7 rating through five games.
