Despite a big increase over last year, the WNBA All-Star Game did not fare particularly well over the weekend.
The 2015 WNBA All-Star Game drew a combined 746,000 viewers on ABC and ESPN Saturday, up 57% from last year on ESPN alone (475K) but down 6% from 2013 on ABC alone (791K). ABC drew 583,000 viewers for its coverage, peaking at 671,000 from 5-5:30 PM ET, while ESPN’s simulcast chipped in 163,000.
The game ranks fourth out of the past six editions of the event (dating back to 2007), ahead of only last year and 2009 (519K). It last topped the million viewer mark a decade ago, earning 1.2 million in 2005.
Louisville was the top market for ABC’s coverage with a 2.1 rating, up 40% from last year on ESPN (1.5). Host market Hartford-New Haven ranked second with a 1.9, followed by Kansas City (1.7), Richmond, VA (1.4) and Raleigh-Durham (1.3).
