Don Cherry and Brett Hull will share time on NBC.
The 2007 Stanley Cup Finals will have its share of hype, at least in the broadcast booth. Details are not quite clear, but one thing is for sure — Cherry will participate in coverage on NBC, while Hull will participate in coverage on the CBC.
Cherry, the outspoken and controversial Hockey Night in Canada personality, will be making his U.S. broadcasting debut, according to an NBC press release.
“I’ll just go on and do what I have to do. In the States, they wanted me to go on one time in Pittsburgh. Jaromir Jagr, it was when he had long hair and he was with Mario Lemieux and I said, ‘there’s Mario and his daughter.’ It didn’t go over too good. That was my last time in the States.“
Of course, ‘have a role’ could be anywhere from being a studio analyst to being in the booth. Considering that Cherry will still be working the Stanley Cup Final for the CBC, small, possibly taped, appearances are more likely.
