Ratings and viewership went in opposite directions for the latest edition of Monday Night Football.
The Week 3 Chiefs/Packers Monday Night Football game drew an 8.3 final rating and 13.5 million viewers on ESPN, down a tick in ratings but up 2% in viewership from Bears/Jets last year (8.4, 13.3M) and down 7% and 3%, respectively, from Raiders/Broncos in 2013 (8.9, 13.9M). Ratings and viewership peaked at a 10.4 and 17.1 million from 9:30-9:45 PM ET.
The Packers’ win, which at one point was a 31-7 blowout, ranks as the lowest rated MNF telecast in Week 3 of the season since Jets/Chargers in 2008 (7.6). That comes on the heels of the lowest rated and least-watched Week 2 MNF telecast since 2011.
Among adults 18-49, Monday’s game had a 5.1 rating — down a tick from last year (5.2) and down 9% from 2013 (5.6).
Through three weeks of the season, the most-watched Monday Night Football telecast remains Vikings/49ers in Week 1 — the lone game called by the much-panned Chris Berman–Trent Dilfer broadcast team.
