ESPN is parting ways with Jason Whitlock. In other news, former NHL goaltender Brian Boucher has joined NBC Sports, and MLB Network’s Sam Ryan will work the sidelines for the MLB playoffs on TBS.
Whitlock Leaving ESPN
- ESPN has parted ways with pundit Jason Whitlock, Sports Illustrated reported Sunday. Whitlock, who worked for ESPN from 2002-06, rejoined the company in 2013 to serve as editor-in-chief of a website centered on race and sports. He was dropped from the project, which was eventually titled The Undefeated, earlier this year. Along with Keith Olbermann, Whitlock was the second of ESPN’s three major hires in the summer of 2013 to depart; only Nate Silver remains. (SI.com)
Former Goalie Boucher Joins NBC
- Former Flyers G Brian Boucher has joined NBC Sports as an NHL analyst, it was announced Monday. Boucher, who was a guest analyst on NBCSN during last season’s playoffs, will work both as a studio analyst and an ‘Inside-the-Glass’ reporter. (NBC Sports Group Press Box)
MLB Net’s Ryan to Work Sidelines For TBS
- MLB Network studio host and reporter Sam Ryan has joined Turner Sports for the Major League Baseball playoffs. Ryan will serve as the sideline reporter on the lead TBS broadcast team of Ernie Johnson, Ron Darling and Cal Ripken Jr. during the Mets/Dodgers NLDS. (Turner Sports)
