ABC scored one of its smallest audiences of the college football season for TCU’s blowout of Texas last week. In other news, FOX ended its MLB regular season coverage with a slight increase, and NBC’s latest English Premier League match increased from 2013.
TCU’s Rout of Texas Low on ABC
- Last Saturday’s Noon ET Texas/TCU college football game had 2.8 million viewers on ABC, down 14% from North Carolina/UCF two years ago (3.2M). There was no game in the timeslot last year. The Horned Frogs’ blowout win ranks as the third-least watched game on ABC this season (14 telecasts), ahead of only UCLA/Arizona the previous week (2.4M) and Air Force/Michigan State two weeks earlier (2.5M).
FOX Ends MLB Regular Season With Increase
- The regular season finale of MLB on FOX earned 1.6 million viewers last Saturday, up 5% from Yankees/Red Sox last year (1.1M) and even with regional action in 2013. Despite the increase, the telecast was the least-watched of the season on FOX (11 total) — barely falling below the previous mark set a week earlier (1.571M to 1.570M).
NBC’s Chelsea/Southampton Match Up From ’13
- NBC drew 948,000 viewers for last Saturday’s Chelsea/Southampton English Premier League match, ranking third out of the network’s four telecasts this season. There was no comparable match last year, but viewership increased 44% from West Ham/Manchester City on the comparable weekend in 2013 (658K).
