The Major League Baseball season will open with seven games in two days on the ESPN family of networks. In other news, the Women’s Final Four is headed to ESPN2 for the first time, and NBCSN will simulcast of Sunday’s NASCAR Chase For the Cup finale.
MLB: Opening Day (April 3 and 4, ESPN/ESPN2)
- ESPN and ESPN2 will combine to televise seven Major League Baseball games on the first two days of the regular season, highlighted by a Mets/Royals World Series rematch on Sunday Night Baseball. The schedule opens with Cardinals/Pirates at 1 PM ET on Sunday, April 3 and continues through Cubs/Angels at 10 PM the following night. Five of the seven games will air on ESPN, including Mets/Royals, while the remaining two air on ESPN2. (ESPN Media Zone)
NCAA: Women’s Final Four (April 3, ESPN/ESPN2)
- In a shift from previous years, the NCAA Women’s Final Four will be split between ESPN and ESPN2 on April 3. While the early game will air at 6 PM ET on ESPN, the late window will move to ESPN2 in order to accommodate the aforementioned Sunday Night Baseball opener. NASCAR Hot Pass (Sunday, 3 PM ET, NBCSN)
- Sunday’s NASCAR Chase For the Cup finale from Homestead will air on both NBC and NBCSN, with the latter presenting a “Hot Pass” simulcast focusing on the four drivers in contention for the championship.
