After an increase in the overnights, an unappealing Monday Night Football matchup finished with a three-year low in the final nationals.
The Week 12 Ravens/Browns Monday Night Football game earned a 6.5 final rating and 10.1 million viewers on ESPN, down 3% in ratings and 7% in viewership from Ravens/Saints last year (6.7, 10.9M) and down 21% and 23%, respectively, from 49ers/Washington in 2013 (8.2, 13.2M).
Ratings and viewership peaked at a 7.3 and 11.2 million from 11:30-11:45 PM ET, as the Ravens pulled off a ‘Kick Six’ to win the game.
Not surprisingly, given the teams’ poor records and the absence of QBs Joe Flacco and Johnny Manziel, Ravens/Browns ranks as the lowest rated and least-watched Monday Night Football telecast in nearly three years — since Falcons/Lions in Week 16 of the 2012 season, which aired on a Saturday night (6.0, 9.7M).
Excluding the anomalous 2012 telecast, the only MNF game on ESPN that did not actually air on a Monday, ratings and viewership were the lowest in four years — since Rams/Seahawks in Week 14 of the 2011 season (6.2, 9.9M).
MNF had a 3.4 rating among adults 18-49, down 11% from last year (3.8), down 31% from 2013 (4.9) and a season-low. Despite the low numbers, it was still the top program of the night on television, comfortably ahead of The Voice on NBC (2.8).
