Overnight ratings were the highest in more than a decade for the early Sunday Wild Card window.
The Seahawks/Vikings NFL Wild Card Game earned a 22.5 overnight rating on NBC Sunday afternoon, up 25% from Bengals/Colts last year (18.0) and up 11% from Chargers/Bengals in 2014 (20.3), both of which aired on CBS. Compared to last year’s Ravens/Steelers Wild Card game on NBC, which aired in the late Saturday window, overnights increased 30% from a 17.3.
The 22.5 overnight is the highest for the early Sunday Wild Card game in 22 years, since Vikings/Giants on CBS in 1994 (22.8). It is also the highest for a non-Super Bowl game on NBC since the network resumed NFL coverage in 2006, topping the previous mark of 20.9 for last year’s Ravens/Patriots Divisional Round game.
The Seahawks’ last-second win peaked at 26.6 from 3:30-4 PM ET.
Minneapolis-St. Paul was Sunday’s top market with a 50.5. Seattle was a very close second at 50.4, with Buffalo (31.0), New Orleans (30.7) and Milwaukee (29.8) rounding out the top five.
