The Penguins/Rangers series delivered cable’s top audience of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
Game 3 of the Penguins/Rangers Stanley Cup playoff series earned 794,000 viewers on USA Network Tuesday night, up 47% from Capitals/Islanders Game 4 last year (542K) and up 184% from Rangers/Flyers Game 3 on CNBC in 2014 (280K).
The Penguins’ win earned the largest audience of the postseason on cable (27 telecasts, not including NHL Network), topping the previous high of 713,000 for Game 1 of the same series last Wednesday.
Over on NBCSN, Blues/Blackhawks Game 4 had 681,000 and Lightning/Red Wings Game 4 546,000 — up 37% and 16%, respectively, from last year’s doubleheader of Predators/Blackhawks (498K) and Lightning/Red Wings (472K).
On Wednesday, Capitals/Flyers Game 4 drew 521,000 (-24%) and Stars/Wild 336,000 (-17%) on NBCSN, while USA Network scored 493,000 for Panthers/Islanders (+9%) and 313,000 for Sharks/Kings (-28%).
