Conference USA Strikes Media Rights Deals
- Conference USA announced Wednesday that it has reached multi-year media rights deals with ESPN, CBS Sports, beIN Sports and Sinclair’s American Sports Network. Football games will air across ESPN (5 telecasts), CBS Sports Network (6), beIN (10) and ASN (15), with ESPN carrying the conference championship. Men’s basketball will air on CBSSN (6), beIN (10) and ASN (13), with the title game on CBSSN. All other sports will air on ASN or beIN, with the exception of the women’s basketball championship, which will air on CBSSN. (Conference USA)
Indy 500 to Air Live in Indianapolis For First Time Since 1950
- For just the third time, and the first time in 66 years, the Indianapolis 500 will be broadcast live in its home market. The live broadcast has been blacked out in Indianapolis for years, airing on tape delay later in the night. With this year’s race completely sold out, the blackout has been lifted. (ESPN Media Zone)
NBC to Provide 4K Coverage of Olympics
- NBC Sports will provide 4K quality coverage of the Olympic Games on a one-day delay, it was announced Thursday. Coverage will include basketball, swimming, track and field and both the opening and closing ceremonies, and will be available to subscribers of cable, satellite and telco services.
