MLS Viewership Up on ESPN TV, Digital, Deportes
- Entering Thursday’s Major League Soccer All-Star Game, MLS telecasts have averaged a 0.2 rating and 312,000 viewers on ESPN and ESPN2 — up a tick in ratings and 32% in viewership from last year (0.1, 235K). Viewership has also increased 127% on the WatchESPN app (from 5K to 12K) and 44% on ESPN Deportes (from 32K to 46K). The season’s top match thus far was NYC F.C./Sounders on June 25, which had a 0.4 and 616,000 on ESPN.
Dodgers/Cardinals Down on Sunday Night Baseball
- Dodgers/Cardinals scored a 0.9 final rating and 1.4 million viewers on ESPN’s Sunday Night Baseball last weekend, down 25% in ratings and 21% in viewership from Tigers/Red Sox last year (1.2, 1.7M) and down 31% and 41%, respectively, from the same Dodgers/Cardinals matchup in 2014 (1.3, 2.3M). In other action, Tigers/Red Sox scored 864,000 on Monday night (+3%) and Cubs/White Sox 653,000 on Wednesday (+13%).
Mixed Numbers For MLB on FS1 Last Weekend
- Last Saturday’s Giants/Yankees Major League Baseball game scored a 0.4 final rating and 635,000 viewers on Fox Sports 1, up 100% in ratings and 96% in viewership from A’s/Giants last year (0.2, 324K) and flat and up 24%, respectively, from Dodgers/Cardinals in 2014 (0.4, 514K). Rangers/Royals had a 0.3 and 456,000 earlier in the day, down 40% in ratings and 38% in viewership from Braves/Cardinals last year (0.5, 800K) and flat and down 13%, respectively, from Indians/Tigers in ’14 (0.3, 522K). In other action, TBS scored 468,000 for Giants/Yankees on Sunday (-19%).
