Viewership unsurprisingly dropped for the rescheduled IndyCar Series race from Texas. In other news, the F1 Belgian Grand Prix had a slight increase, and horse racing’s Travers Stakes was no match for last year.
Viewership Dips For Rescheduled IndyCar From Texas
- Saturday’s IndyCar Series race from Texas, which was postponed from its original June date due to rain, had a 0.3 final rating and 388,000 viewers on NBCSN — flat in ratings and down 10% in viewership from last year’s race, which was run as scheduled (0.3, 431K). As should be no surprise, it was the least-watched edition of the race since 2012 (384K).
F1 Belgium Viewership Up Slightly
- Formula 1 racing from Belgium scored 526,000 viewers on NBCSN Sunday morning, up a fraction of a percent from lat year (524K) and up 21% from 2014 (435K). Of the 11 races this season that can be compared to last year, it was just the fourth to post an increase. An encore presentation had 288,000 Sunday night.
Travers Stakes Down Big From Last Year
- The Breeders Cup Challenge Travers Stakes earned a 0.7 final rating and 968,000 viewers on NBC Saturday evening, down 50% in ratings and 51% in viewership from last year, when American Pharoah finished second (1.4, 2.0M). Compared to 2014, ratings increased a tick but viewership slipped 1% from a 0.6 and 981,000.
