Ratings and viewership sank double-digits for both games of Sunday’s NFL doubleheader on CBS.
The Week 7 Patriots/Steelers NFL national window had a 12.6 final rating and 21.7 million viewers on CBS Sunday afternoon, down 13% in ratings and 11% in viewership from last year (14.4, 24.5M) and down 19% and 20%, respectively, from 2014 (15.6, 27.0M), both of which featured Cowboys/Giants on FOX.
The 12.6 rating is the lowest for the national window in Week 7 of the season since 2005, when coverage featuring Broncos/Giants had a 12.3 on CBS.
The national window, which is routinely the highest rated and most-watched NFL telecast window, has failed to earn at least a 13 rating in four of seven weeks this season. It has failed to reach 23 million viewers in five. Only once all of last season did it fail to meet either mark.
Ratings and viewership for the national window have declined in five of seven weeks, hitting multi-year lows four times.
Earlier in the day, regional action had a 7.0 rating and 11.3 million viewers — down 11% in ratings and 9% in viewership from last year (7.9, 12.5M) and down 18% and 20%, respectively, from 2014 (8.5, 14.2M).
