The second game of the Yankees/Twins series was not as big of a draw as the first, but still matched last year’s comparable Cardinals/Dodgers tilt.
The Yankees’ Game 2 win over the Twins drew a 3.5 U.S. rating and 5.341 million viewers on TBS Thursday evening, flat in ratings and up 3% in viewership from last year (STL/LAD G2: 3.5, 5.175 mil) and up 30% and 28%, respectively, from 2008 (MIL/PHI G2: 2.7, 4.196 mil).
Last year’s Twins/Yankees Game 2 drew a 4.1 and 6.484 million viewers on a Friday evening.
This marks the lowest rated Yankees playoff game since Tigers/Yankees Game 2 in 2006 (2.2). That game had originally been scheduled to air on ESPN in primetime, but was postponed to the following afternoon (1 PM) due to rain.
Though down from Wednesday’s Game 1 (4.3, 6.914 mil), Game 2 was the top Division Series telecast of the day.
In Minneapolis-St. Paul, the game a 19.4 rating — down 35% from Game 1 (29.6), but even with Twins/Yankees Game 2 last year (19.4). In New York, the game drew a 13.5 rating, up 2% from Game 1 (13.2) and even with Game 2 last year (13.5),
