The 2010-11 NFL season is off to a record start on FOX.
Through Week 4, FOX averaged an 11.7 rating and 19.677 million viewers for NFL coverage, up 14% in viewership from last year (17.196 mil) and the network’s “best start ever for the NFC TV package.” FOX began airing NFL coverage in the 1994 season.
Both games of the network’s Week 4 doubleheader had an increase in ratings and viewership.
The early game, featuring Panthers/Saints in 52% of markets, drew an 8.3 final rating and 13.679 million viewers — up 8% in ratings and 16% in viewership from last year (NYG/KC*: 7.7, 11.813 mil) and up 5% and 12%, respectively, from Week 4 two years ago (GB/TB*: 7.9, 12.224 mil).
Meanwhile, the late national window drew a 13.8 and 23.134 million viewers, as reported earlier this week. The telecast, which featured Donovan McNabb‘s return to Philadelphia in most markets, was up 5% in both ratings and viewership from last year.
