For the second time in a year, Hall of Fame broadcaster Bob Uecker will undergo a surgical procedure on his heart.
Uecker, the longtime radio voice of the Brewers, will have surgery on Tuesday to repair a tear at the site of a previous surgical procedure he underwent this year. Uecker is expected to miss at least eight weeks while recovering.
In April, Uecker underwent surgery to replace his “aortic valve, aortic root and part of his ascending aorta.” He spent over two months recovering, making his return to Brewers coverage in July.
In a statement, Uecker said he is approaching the surgery “with the same optimism that I had the first time.” Uecker: “I have the highest confidence in the doctors and staff at Froedtert Hospital and I look forward to being ready to go well before Spring Training in Arizona.”
The 2010 MLB season was Uecker’s 40th as the voice of the Brewers. In the 1990s, he served as an analyst on NBC Major League Baseball games, including the 1995 and 1997 World Series.
