The first game of last week’s NFL doubleheader on CBS attracted the league’s smallest TV audience of the season.
CBS earned a 6.5 final rating and 10.463 million viewers for regional action featuring Colts/Chiefs last Sunday, down 3% in ratings but up 1% in viewership from last year (OAK/NYG*: 6.7, 10.340 mil).
This marks the lowest rated, least-viewed NFL telecast of the season on any network. Additionally, this is the lowest rated NFL telecast on broadcast since last year’s Week 7 singleheader on CBS (6.4).
Sunday’s early window was just the fourth of 27 NFL telecasts this season to have a decline in ratings, and the first such telecast on CBS.
As reported earlier this week, Sunday’s NFL national window (featuring Titans/Cowboys) drew a 12.7 rating and 20.787 million viewers on CBS, even in ratings and down 1% in viewership compared to last year.
