TBS continues to put up strong numbers for the Rangers/Yankees ALCS.
The Rangers’ Game 3 win over the Yankees drew a 5.2 U.S. rating and 8.214 million viewers on TBS, up 73% in ratings and 63% in viewership compared to Game 3 of last year’s NLCS on TBS (LAD/PHI: 3.0, 5.035 mil), and up 73% and 83%, respectively, from Game 3 of the 2008 ALCS on TBS (TB/BOS: 3.0, 4.499 mil).
Last year’s Dodgers/Phillies Game 3 aired on a Sunday night; Rays/Red Sox Game 3 in 2008 aired on a Monday afternoon.
Game 3 of last year’s Yankees/Angels ALCS on FOX drew a 4.8 rating and 7.253 million viewers on a Monday afternoon.
Rangers/Yankees Game 3 stands as the fifth most-viewed MLB Postseason game ever on cable television. TBS now owns the top five MLB postseason cable audiences, and six of the top seven.
The strong numbers for Monday’s telecast came despite competition from ESPN’s Monday Night Football. Final ratings and viewership for MNF were not immediately available, but the telecast outdrew Rangers/Yankees in the overnights (7.2 to 6.5).
Through three games, TBS is averaging a 4.5 U.S. rating and 7.347 million viewers for coverage of the ALCS, up 29% in ratings and 33% in viewership from the first three games of last year’s Phillies/Dodgers NLCS (3.5, 5.543 mil).
