In its first year carrying regular season Big Ten games, Fox Sports has rights to some of college football’s highest-profile matchups.
The annual Ohio State-Michigan college football rivalry game will air on the FOX broadcast network November 25, the first time it has aired on a network other than ESPN or ABC since 1986, when coverage aired on CBS. The teams’ meeting last season was the most-watched regular season game since 2012 with 16.8 million viewers.
Ohio State-Michigan will be part of a tripleheader on FOX, one of six the network has scheduled for next season. It has not previously aired a tripleheader.
FOX will also broadcast Notre Dame-Michigan State in primetime on September 23 and Penn State-Ohio State leading into the World Series on October 28.
While FOX has some of the bigger Big Ten matchups this season, ESPN/ABC will also broadcast its fair share of marquee games, including Ohio State hosting Oklahoma on ABC September 9. The ESPN family of networks also has rights to its usual number of big SEC and ACC games, including Florida State-Alabama on the opening weekend of the season.
Notably, the Big Ten’s television deal with Fox Sports and ESPN, which was reported more than a year ago and is clearly in effect, has yet to be officially announced.
