CBS earned its highest NFL overnight in three years for Sunday’s Week 9 national window.
NFL action featuring Colts/Eagles drew a 17.1 overnight rating on CBS Sunday afternoon, up 22% from Week 9 last year (SD/NYG*: 14.0, CBS), and up 2% from Week 9 in 2008 (DAL/NYG*: 16.8, FOX).
This marks the highest overnight for a regular season NFL telecast on CBS since Week 14 in 2007 (PIT/NE*: 18.4), topping the network’s previous three-year high of 16.7 set by this year’s Week 2 national window.
The 17.1 is tied as the third-highest NFL overnight of the season, behind only the Week 6 national window on FOX (DAL/MIN: 17.4) and the NFL Kickoff Game on NBC (MIN/NO: 17.7).
In three of the past four weeks, the NFL national window has drawn at least a 17.0 overnight.
Earlier in the day, regional action featuring Dolphins/Ravens earned a 12.0 overnight, up 8% from last year (MIA/NE*: 11.1, CBS), and up 24% from 2008 (GB/TEN*: 9.7, FOX).
CBS is averaging a 12.8 overnight rating for NFL coverage through Week 9, up 12% from last year (11.4).
