Ratings for the ACC Championship Game improved from last year’s record low levels, but remained very low.
ESPN earned a 1.8 U.S. rating and 3.047 million viewers for Virginia Tech’s win over Florida State last Saturday night, up 13% and 20%, respectively, from last year (GT/CLEM: 1.6, 2.541 mil).
This marks the second-lowest rated ACC Championship Game ever (six games), ahead of only last year.
For some perspective, Virginia Tech and Florida State played in the very first ACC Championship Game in 2005. That game drew a comparably massive 5.1 rating and 7.625 million viewers.
Saturday’s game aired directly opposite the Big 12 Championship Game on ABC, which drew a 5.3 rating and 8.981 million viewers.
