NFL ratings hit a rare multi-year high in the metered markets Sunday night.
The Week 13 edition of Sunday Night Football — 10-1 Philadelphia against 7-4 Seattle — had a 13.1 overnight rating on NBC, up 14% from Panthers-Seahawks last year (11.5) and up 7% from Colts-Steelers in 2015 (12.2).
The Seahawks’ win, which peaked at a 14.0 from 10-10:30 PM ET, was the third straight Sunday night game to increase over last year. It was also the second of the past three to hit a multi-year high.
For the season, the 13.1 is the second-highest for a primetime NFL game since Week 1, trailing only Cowboys-Eagles on SNF in Week 11 (13.5).
Earlier in the day, FOX earned a 13.7 for national window coverage featuring Saints-Panthers in 72% of markets — down 17% from last year (mostly Giants-Steelers: 16.6) and down 25% from 2015, which featured the same two teams (18.2).
The 13.7 is the lowest of the season for the national window on FOX.
As for the 1 PM ET windows, the singleheader scored a 9.8 overnight on CBS (-12%). Despite the drop, the 9.8 is the highest for a singleheader on CBS this season, per Sports Business Daily.
FOX had an 8.3 for the first half of its doubleheader, which featured Vikings-Falcons in most markets — up 6% from last year (7.8) but down 25% from 2015 (11.0).
