For the second straight week, the NFL’s singleheader window scored a double-digit increase in ratings.
Sunday’s Week 2 NFL singleheader, featuring Vikings-Packers in 36% of markets and Cardinals-Rams in 25%, had a 10.0 rating and 17.6 million viewers on FOX — up 19% in ratings and 21% in viewership from last year on CBS (ft. Patriots-Saints: 8.4, 14.5M) but down 9% and 8% respectively from 2016 on FOX (ft. Dallas-Washington: 11.0, 19.2M).
Compared to last year’s first singleheader on FOX, which aired in Week 3 and featured Giants-Eagles, ratings increased 9% (from 9.2) and viewership 14% from 15.4 million.
Ratings and viewership have increased double-digits for the first two singleheader windows this season, with the Week 1 telecast up 28 percent on CBS. Overall, five of 13 NFL telecast windows this season have increased, including all three on FOX.
Sunday’s telecast topped all-but-two of last season’s 16 singleheader windows, trailing telecasts in Week 4 (11.5, 20.1M) and Week 15 (10.6, 18.1M).
