ESPN.com writer Howard Bryant, arrested on domestic assault charges earlier this year, has agreed to serve probation in exchange for having all charges against him dropped.
Bryant will not face charges stemming from a February incident in which witnesses alleged he physically assaulted his wife, Veronique, outside a Massachusetts eatery, an accusation that both Bryant and his wife denied.
In exchange for dropping the charges of domestic assault, assault and battery of a police officer, and resisting arrest, Bryant will serve six months of pretrial probation. If Bryant is accused of violating the law while on probation, he could still face charges in the case.
An agreement signed by Bryant’s attorney and the Northwestern District Attorney’s Office states that a review of witness statements did “not support allegations that Mr. Bryant struck, choked, pinned Ms. Bryant against a car or inflicted violence upon her.”
Bryant later said he was “gratified that the Commonwealth has determined that all allegations against me are unsubstantiated.”
