Turner sets dates, nets, for Tiger/Phil match
Turner Sports officially announced the date, times and networks for the next Tiger Woods/Phil Mickelson competition, which will air on TNT, TBS, TruTV and HLN May 24 at 3 PM ET. As previously reported, Woods and Mickelson will be paired up with Peyton Manning and Tom Brady, respectively.
The four-network presentation differs significantly from the previous Woods/Mickelson matchup last November, which was available only through pay-per-view. [Turner Sports]
MLB plans to send resumption proposal to players
Major League Baseball plans to submit a proposal for the resumption of its season to the players association “within a week,” ESPN reported Thursday. Per ESPN and The Athletic, some teams have floated a resumption of Spring Training in June and Opening Day July 1, dates first made public by former 3B Trevor Plouffe, though neither report indicated that those dates were set in stone. IndyCar sets return at Texas June 6
IndyCar announced Thursday that it will begin its season at Texas on June 6, with the race taking place on its original date but without fans in attendance. Practice, qualifying and the race itself will take place on the same day, all televised by NBCSN.
The rest of the IndyCar schedule remains unchanged from last month’s revision, with the Grand Prix of Indianapolis scheduled for July 4, the Indy 500 for August 23, a third Indianapolis Motor Speedway race set for October 3, and St. Petersburg — originally set to be the season debut — to be determined. The German Bundesliga plans to resume its season on May 16 after a two-month layoff. The league was given the go-ahead by Germany’s government this week. … The Premier Lacrosse League announced Wednesday that it plans to begin an abridged two-week season on July 25. The season, which will be staged in one location without fans in attendance, will consist of one week of group play followed by another week of single-elimination games. … The NHL is now looking at resuming its season with a 24-team playoff tournament that would include a best-of-three play-in round, according to the New York Post.
