After long courtship, Olsen-Fox marriage reportedly official
Fox Sports has officially hired Seahawks TE Greg Olsen to serve as an NFL game analyst as soon as he retires, the New York Post reported Monday. Olsen has regularly appeared on Fox, including as a guest game analyst, throughout his playing career.
Olsen will serve as the #2 game analyst on Fox when he debuts, per the report. In the meantime, Daryl Johnston will serve that role. The previous Fox #2 analyst, Charles Davis, left for CBS earlier this year. [NYP 7.13]
Golic says he will shift to game analyst role
Outgoing ESPN Radio host Mike Golic said on-air Monday that he will shift to college football game analysis this fall, assuming the season is played. Golic, whose contract expires at the end of the year, said his new role could last “maybe beyond” this season.
In addition to working games, Golic said he will also serve as a college and pro football analyst for SportsCenter.
Golic has previously called college, NFL and AFL football games for ESPN, most recently working the back half of the network’s Week 1 Monday Night Football doubleheader in 2008. [Awful Announcing 7.13]
WNBA schedule released, including game on CBS
The WNBA on Monday released the schedule for its planned regular season at the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla., with the ESPN family of networks scheduled to carry 24 games in the first half of the season and the CBS broadcast network set to air a game for the first time. The season would begin July 25 with Storm-Liberty on ESPN (Noon ET), Sparks-Mercury on ABC (3:00) and Fever-Mystics on CBS Sports Network (5:00). The same networks would also carry games the following day, with Sun-Lynx on ESPN (Noon), Sky-Aces on ABC (3:00) and Wings-Dream on CBSSN (5:00).
The CBS broadcast network is scheduled to carry Liberty-Aces on August 29 (4:00). CBS has never before aired a WNBA game and last aired the NBA in 1990. [WNBA.com 7.13]

ESPN’s Rachel Nichols-hosted “The Jump” began originating from the NBA’s Walt Disney World ‘bubble’ on Monday. Nichols will host from her hotel room over the next week as she observes a league-mandated seven-day isolation period. … CBS Sports announced Monday that it has reached a deal to broadcast the new Superstar Racing Experience, a new sprint race series pitting drivers from various racing series in head-to-head competition. The CBS broadcast network is scheduled to carry six events in primetime next summer. … Washington’s NFL team announced Monday that it plans to retire its current nickname.
