Additional sports TV ratings news, including double-digit increases for both the Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest and the U.S. Track & Field Championships, and mixed numbers for the Formula 1 European Grand Prix.

  • Double-Digit Rise For Hot Dog Contest: The 2011 Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest drew 1.949 million viewers on ESPN Monday afternoon, up 16% from last year (1.677M), and up 45% from 2009 (1.340M).
  • Ratings Up, Viewership Down, For F1 European Grand Prix: The Formula One European Grand Prix drew a 0.8 final rating and 1.076 million viewers on FOX June 26, up a tick in ratings but down 4% in viewership from last year (0.7, 1.115M).
  • Track & Field Championships Up Big: Coverage of the 2011 U.S. Track & Field Championships drew a 1.1 final rating and 1.625 million viewers on NBC June 26, up 38% in ratings and 57% in viewership from last year’s comparable window, which aired earlier in the day (0.8, 1.034M). One day earlier, coverage of the event drew a 1.0 and 1.569 million on NBC, up 43% and 67%, respectively, from last year (0.7, 940K).
