Airing for the first time on Fox Sports 1, the Big East and Pac-12 title games plunged in the overnights.
Saturday’s Providence/Creighton Big East Championship Game earned a 0.5 overnight rating, according to Sports Business Daily — down 76% from Louisville/Syracuse on ESPN last year (2.1), and down 69% from Louisville/Notre Dame in 2012 (1.6).
This year marked the first edition of the ‘new’ Big East Tournament. Of note, the championship game of the ‘old’ Big East (the American Athletic Conference) earned a 1.2 overnight on ESPN.
The other title game on FS1 also fared poorly. The UCLA/Arizona Pac-12 Championship Game earned a 0.4 overnight on FS1, according to ShowBuzz Daily — down 67% from Oregon/UCLA on ESPN last year (1.2), and down 71% from Colorado/Arizona on CBS in 2012 (1.4).
Rounding out Saturday’s action, the Baylor/Iowa State Big 12 Championship Game earned a 1.2 overnight on ESPN in the old Big East timeslot — down 20% from Kansas/Kansas State in an earlier window last year (1.5). Meanwhile, the San Diego St./New Mexico Mountain West title game was the top draw of the evening with a 1.4 on CBS, down 18% from New Mexico/UNLV last year (1.7).
