The series that will end up being the most talked about of the 2007 NBA Playoffs drew good ratings. However, only one game of the series managed to post a ratings increase over the comparable game a year ago, and the series overall averaged a 3.2 rating through six games, down 3% from the six-game average for last year’s Mavericks/Spurs series.
Ratings for games on cable (TNT, ESPN) are national ratings; cable ratings (which measure the amount of people watching out of the amount of people with access to the network) are larger.
Game 1 (Sunday, May 6, 3:30 PM, ABC)
3.5 rating, down 5% from the 3.7 rating for Cavaliers/Pistons Game 1 in the same timeslot in 2006, but up 17% from the 3.0 rating for Mavericks/Spurs Game 1 in the weaker 1:00 PM timeslot in 2006.
Game 2 (Tuesday, May 8, 10:30 PM, TNT)
2.7 rating, even with the 2.7 for Mavericks/Spurs Game 2 in the comparable timeslot in 2006.
Game 3 (Saturday, May 12, 8:15 PM, ABC)
3.4 rating; up 6% from the 3.2 rating for Spurs/Mavericks Game 3 in the same timeslot in 2006.
Game 4 (Monday, May 14, 9:30 PM, TNT)
3.0 rating; down 6% from the 3.2 rating for Spurs Mavericks Game 4 in the same timeslot in 2006.
Game 5 (Wednesday, May 16, 10:30 PM, TNT)
3.4 rating; down 11% from the 3.8 rating for Mavericks/Spurs Game 5 in the comparable timeslot in 2006.
Game 6 (Friday, May 18, 9:30 PM, ESPN)
3.2 rating; down 18% from the 3.9 rating for Spurs/Mavericks Game 6 in the same timeslot in 2006.
Average rating: 3.2 for six games; down 3% from the 3.3 six-game average for Spurs/Mavericks in 2006.
